Why do I make generative ambient music on eurorack modular synthesizer?
Generative ambient music is always a balancing act. Is it what I wanted or is it what it wanted to be? The changing quality of the moment captured with the click of the record button… How imperfect. How fleeting. How interdependent.
I am always tempted to try to find a balance between chaos and control. Between letting things happen and determining what happens.
Why do I use eurorack modular synthesizer?
I found in this system the absolute equivalent of the balance between infinite possibilities and self-imposed restriction. The approach is: it is always possible to exchange one module for another but the system must not grow in size without a limit.
Freedom in the choice of modules against the control of their count.
Crucial for the decision to switch to Eurorack was of course also the immense offer of modules and the creativity of the manufacturers, the openness of the system and the tempting possibilities for experimentation.
